AQUA Palawana stands for Aquatic Biodiversity Research Project on the Philippine Island of Palawan. This long-term international research initiative focuses on freshwater invertebrate taxonomy and ecology and conservation projects. It is currently coordinated by Dr. Hendrik Freitag of the AdMU Department of Biology.

Transcriptomic regulation of bio-regulatory processes has expanded its scope in the recent years.  Since the discovery of  regulatory non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), numerous studies confirmed its roles in viral pathogenesis, particularly in controlling viral latency, transcriptional reactivation and gene expression inside the host cell. Their pervasive contexts of mediative regulation of epigenetic mechanisms in viral expression and host cell antiviral defense have also been reported.  We aimed to establish the global networks of regulatory ncRNAs describing important human virus-host interactions.  Once the models have been established, subsequent functional validation of the predictions will be undertaken.
